The Midcoast Forum on Foreign Relations recently hosted Anne Hall, a career member of the senior Foreign Service with broad experience in Europe, who earned degrees from the University of Maine and the University of Texas, for a discussion about courage in the Baltic region.
She was the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Lithuania from 2016 to 2019, and was previously the Director of the Office of Central European Affairs in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, where she managed relations with Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lichtenstein, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
The Midcoast Forum on Foreign Relations, founded in 1983, seeks to promote the study of U.S. foreign policy through speakers, discussion groups and the production of relevant materials.
Throughout her career, Hall served in Lithuania, Poland, China, Brazil, Colombia and Washington, D.C.
She is the recipient of several Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards. In July 2009 she became the first American Consul General to be awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. She speaks Lithuanian, Polish, Mandarin, Spanish and Portuguese.
