CURRENT REPRESENTATIVE:

Marshall Archer, a Democrat from Saco. Rep. Archer has served in the state legislature since being elected in November 2024.

Rep. Archer serves as the Deputy Mayor and Ward 1 Councilor for the City of Saco. He is also a director of partner engagement for a workforce development organization, a property investor, and a part-time faculty member at the University of Southern Maine. In addition, he actively contributes as a board member or advisor to several local community organizations including VET 2 Vet Maine, AMVETS, Southern Maine Finance Authority, and the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce. He has served as a seminar instructor at Capella University, with a focus on onboarding incoming doctoral students to online learning. His extensive experience encompasses roles such as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Maine Department of Labor, a Veterans and Compliance Officer for the City of Portland, where he assisted homeless and at-risk veterans in maintaining long-term stable housing. He has played a pivotal role in helping many veterans obtain VA health care, compensation, pension, education, and various other available benefits.

Rep. Archer has held significant positions such as the Regional Director of Student Veterans of America, advising the National Commander on various Iraq and Afghanistan issues as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Current Conflict committee. He served on the VFW’s Department of Maine Council of Administration. Additionally, he contributed to the establishment of a Veteran Student Organization and a Veterans Resource Center at the University of Southern Maine. In 2009, his efforts led to the establishment of L.D 1488, a law providing Maine’s veterans complimentary access to the state’s parks. From 2001 to 2005, he served in the U.S. Marines, deploying to Iraq twice and providing security support in the Anbar Province. In May 2013, he was selected by the American Council of Political Leaders to participate as a delegate to China.
