Derrick Z. Jackson

Derrick Z. Jackson is co-author with Steve Kress of “Project Puffin” and “The Puffin Plan.” The latter book was the 2021 winner in Teen Nonfiction from the Independent Book Publishers Association. A former Boston Globe columnist and Pulitzer Prize and National Headliners finalist, Jackson was a 2023 and 2022 winner of writing awards from the National Association of Black Journalists and the American Society of Journalists and Authors. He was also a 2022 commentary winner from the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and the Outdoor Writers Association of America, and the 2021 Scripps Howard winner for opinion writing. He is a fellow with the Union of Concerned Scientists.
