Nate Hathaway is a freelance reporter and photographer currently based in midcoast Maine after a saltwater odyssey that has taken him across oceans, the Great Lakes, and out to Hawaii.
Originally from suburban Maryland, Nate has spent most of his career in the niche of coastal outdoor education both ashore and on the tall ships that brought him to Maine in 2013. He has worked as a captain and educator when not hunting, fishing, or walking his terrier and cat (together no less).
The transfer near Mount Katahdin is part of a growing movement to return lands to Native tribes, highlighting traditional approaches to resource management.
