The Maine Monitor is looking for contributors for Climate Monitor, our environmental and energy newsletter covering anything climate, environment or energy-related in Maine. You can read past issues here.
We’re looking for writers who will bring their own voice to the newsletter while staying true to our values of fair, accurate, nonpartisan reporting and abiding by the highest journalistic ethics and standards. We don’t publish commentary or personal essays, and we expect contributors to follow the same ethical guidelines our staff reporters do.
We’re looking for someone who has a command of complex and varied issues, an eye for data and who is excited to cover the political, economic, technological and social consequences of Maine’s changing climate. Evidence of crisp explanatory writing is a must. You should be able to cover complicated topics in a clear, conversational style and be committed to staying abreast of the current research and policy debates around energy and the environment in Maine.
If you think you’d be a good fit, send us a pitch for a climate-related newsletter story (max. 250 words), a link to three clips you’re most proud of, and your resume. Please submit your materials via this form. If you have any trouble submitting this form or any questions email careers@themainemonitor.org.
