CURRENT REPRESENTATIVE:

David “Woody” Woodsome, a Republican from Waterboro. Rep. Woodsome is retired and has served in the state legislature since being elected in November 2022.

Rep. Woodsome is a retired high school educator who taught social studies and history at Massabesic High School, and physical education and health at Fryeburg Academy until his retirement in 2014. During his time teaching, he also coached football and wrestling. Rep. Woodsome was Selectman for three years and chairman of the Recycling-Transfer Station. He has also been a member of the Charter Commission, Road Review Committee, Waterboro Republic Caucus, Waterboro Historical Society, Sanford Elks Club, Government Relations, and the Spring Social Club.

Rep. Woodsome serves on the leaves of absence committee, the environment and natural resources committee and the inland fisheries and wildlife committee.

The environment and natural resources committee covers air and water quality; natural resource protection; site location of development laws, shoreland zoning, subdivisions and growth management; management and disposal of solid, hazardous, biomedical and special wastes; returnable containers; hydropower and dams; waste-to-energy facilities; mining; wind energy development; and general environmental policy, including oversight of the Department of Environmental Protection.

The inland fisheries and wildlife committee covers the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife; inland fisheries and wildlife research and management; hunting; fishing; trapping; hunter safety; fish hatcheries; game wardens; guides; taxidermist licensing; ATVs; snowmobiles; watercraft registration and boater safety; and whitewater rafting.
