CURRENT REPRESENTATIVE:

William Bridgeo, a Democrat from Augusta. Rep. Bridgeo is an educator and has worked in local government. He has served in the state legislature since being elected in November 2022.

Rep. Bridgeo began a 40-year career in city management in the late 1970s, serving six years as city manager of Calais, 11 years as city manager of Canandaigua, New York, and 24 years as city manager of Augusta. He has also served in leadership positions on numerous professional and civic boards, including as president of the New York Municipal Management Association, president of the Kennebec Valley YMCA and as a member of the Maine Municipal Association, the Maine Town and City Management Association (MTCMA) and the Maine Development Foundation. He was the recipient of the MTCMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022. Rep. Bridgeo is a longstanding member of the University of Maine at Augusta’s adjunct faculty, teaching courses in state and local government. He has also taught MBA ethical leadership courses at Thomas College.

Rep. Bridgeo serves on the environment and natural resources committee which covers air and water quality; natural resource protection; site location of development laws, shoreland zoning, subdivisions and growth management; management and disposal of solid, hazardous, biomedical and special wastes; returnable containers; hydropower and dams; waste-to-energy facilities; mining; wind energy development; and general environmental policy, including oversight of the Department of Environmental Protection.
