This district serves the Hancock County communities of Amherst, Aurora, Central Hancock UT, East Hancock UT, Eastbrook, Franklin, Gouldsboro, Great Pond, Hancock, Mariaville, Northwest Hancock UT, Osborn, Sorrento, Sullivan, Waltham and Winter Harbor.

This district also serves all of the communities in Washington County.

CURRENT REPRESENTATIVE:

Marianne Moore, a Republican from Calais. Sen. Moore has served in the state legislature since being elected in November 2018.

A resident of Calais, Sen. Moore is a former city councilor who served nine years on the council with six of those years as mayor. She used to own and operate the local Curves Fitness Center. She is a former Washington County Cancer Patient Navigator where she helped address the complex barriers to short- and long-term care faced by cancer patients in Washington County. She still facilitates a Calais-area breast cancer support group. She is a former member of the Washington County Extension Association, which oversees the programs of the University of Maine’s Cooperative Extension Service in Washington County; and she served as Treasurer of the Washington County Development Authority. She is also a former member of the Maine Permanent Commission on the Status of Women and served as both a trustee and board member of the Calais Community Hospital, formerly known as Calais Regional Hospital. Sen. Moore is also the former executive board chair of the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce and taught at Washington County Community College in Calais.

Sen. Moore serves on the engrossed bills committee, the health and human services committee and on the marine resources committee.

The health and human services committee covers the Department of Health and Human Services; MaineCare/Medicaid; children’s welfare and mental health services; child care; maternal and infant health; public health; lead and water testing; immunization; tobacco and e-cigarette sale and use; medical use of marijuana; eating, lodging and campground licensing and inspection; opioid medications and limits; state health system planning; health care facilities; health care workforce; telemedicine; oral health and dental care; substance use disorder; mental health; developmental disability; aging; elderly and disability issues; home and community-based longterm care; nursing facilities and residential care; palliative and end- of-life care; and public assistance.

The marine resources committee covers the Department of Marine Resources; Marine Patrol; commercial and recreational marine fisheries management, licensing and enforcement; marine science and research; shellfish sanitation and management; and aquaculture.
