Republication Policy

The Maine Monitor makes its original journalism available for republication by approved news outlets to be republished by those outlets through their online and print publications.

Only content (text, photos, videos, graphics) produced by/for The Maine Monitor is eligible for republication, which can be done by copy-pasting. Stories noting the work originally elsewhere (such as Quoddy Tides, Daily Yonder, ProPublica) are subject to republication rights imposed by those publications.

Please credit bylined reporters as such, or in a similar fashion: John Smith of The Maine Monitor.

If you have a paywall, we would appreciate it if you do not place our content behind that paywall.

Please affix this tagline to each story published online: This story was originally published by The Maine Monitor, a nonprofit and nonpartisan news organization. To get regular coverage from the Monitor, sign up for a free Monitor newsletter here.

Please affix this tagline to each story that appears in print: This story was originally published by The Maine Monitor, a nonprofit and nonpartisan news organization. Visit the newsroom online: themainemonitor.org.

We’d love to be tagged on social media (@mainemonitor on all channels) should you push the content to your social channels.

Republication partners are not permitted to edit (except for style changes, and headline localization or sprucing) or trim the piece without prior approval.

You may select articles to be republished individually — you may not republish our work wholesale or automatically. You can’t use our work to populate a website designed to improve rankings on search engines.

For questions, to become an approved partner, or to get on our email list to know when new content is available for republication, email george@themainemonitor.org.
