Chasing Maine: The Miracle Dog

A story of compassion and persistence.

The story of Erika Mazuzan and her family’s search for their lost dog is one full of compassion and persistence.

Erika and her son, Lukas, lost their newly-adopted puggle, Gidget, almost immediately after they brought the dog home to Cumberland in July.

Yet over the next 50 days, they never gave up trying to locate the pup. In the end, Gidget was discovered in the Maine woods by a trail camera — after wandering and surviving over an area of several square miles for nearly two months.

Since Gidget’s recovery, the Mazusans have hand-delivered dozens of thank you cards to those who helped and supported their efforts.
