Christie Thompson has been a reporter with The Marshall Project since 2014, and reports from Seattle.

She was the recipient of the 2016 George Polk Award for Justice Reporting and a 2022 Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists, and was a finalist for a 2025 Livingston Award for National Reporting. Her reporting with NPR on violence and abuse in a federal prison unit in Illinois prompted lawmakers in 2023 to close that unit.
