Chasing Maine: The Gold Ball

Roger McCord captures the excitement of the state basketball tournament as the Flagg brothers lead Nokomis High to its first boys’ basketball state championship.

While Chasing Maine is officially still on hiatus, veteran Maine journalist and storyteller Roger McCord was lured to the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland earlier this month to witness history for the Nokomis High School boys’ basketball program.

Nokomis features Maine’s most highly touted player in 6’7” freshman Cooper Flagg. Cooper’s twin brother, Ace, and older brother, Hunter, were also part of Nokomis’ historic run for a state championship — the Gold Ball. In this episode, Chasing Maine takes you courtside for an up close view of the action and celebration.
