The Maine Monitor and its publisher, The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, are pleased to welcome three additions to the independent, nonprofit news organization.

Kristian Moravec has joined the newsroom as The Monitor’s education and workforce development reporter.

She was most recently a reporter for The Times Record, where she covered the toxic firefighting foam spill in Brunswick, among other things. She has long been passionate about understanding various perspectives on different topics and has participated in various cultural exchange programs around the globe.

Though Moravec originally hails from Chicago, she has spent the past decade living on the East Coast and abroad. She moved to Midcoast Maine in 2024 to cover local news.
