The Maine Monitor and its publisher, the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, are pleased to welcome a new addition to the independent, nonprofit news organization.
Caitlin Andrews will cover statewide housing issues.
Andrews sees her role as covering one of the most politically, economically and socially important issues in the modern world, and is interested in exploring it through everything from mortgage rates to creative solutions to improve accessibility.
Originally from New Hampshire, Andrews worked her way up through the daily news scene and came to Maine in 2019 to cover politics. She has reported on everything from local school boards and health care to international AI policy.
Since her move to Maine, Andrews has reported for the Bangor Daily News, Maine Public and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She previously covered the statehouse for The Monitor in 2022 and 2023.
Andrews is a 2020 Ravitch Fiscal Reporting Program at CUNY fellow and a 2022 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation of Health Coverage fellow.
Her work has been recognized by local and regional press associations, as well as the National Newspaper Association and the Association of Health Care Journalists. She lives in southern Maine.
